Events develop during the First World war around Schofield and Blake-inexperienced corporals of the British army, taking part in a battle against German troops in the South of France. As a result of the successful offensive, the British managed to push the Germans back into the front line, after which Colonel Mackenzie decided to continue the attack, wanting to consolidate the advantage. But the management soon discovers that the German retreat is a tactical maneuver designed to lure Mackenzie's troops into a trap. And now Blake and Schofield are forced to go to the enemy's rear, where they have to risk their lives every minute to pass important information to the Colonel and save thousands of colleagues from certain death
